What we have here is a good old fashioned blog.
As I see it, one trouble with the world of technology is that we are very eager to proclaim certain flavours of tech dead. Once mighty and indispensable gadgets, tools, platforms, and formats are given a casual hand wave: no one uses that anymore.
Yet, in fact, WordPress just released version seven point oh about a week before I am writing these words making the twenty-three year old content management software appear, at least by all external observations, alive and kicking. Since I understand the software’s flagship function remains the publication of personal websites, I am also given to understand that blogging is not yet gone to pasture.
The visual media prevail, of course.
I get it.
Reading ideas takes effort.
I too find comfort in putting on my headphones and scrolling some mindless video reels on a lazy evening.
That said, there is something that can’t quite be expressed by formats of the prevailing and emerging platforms that can ever be so plainly expressed by a well written collection of paragraphs. Text on a page. Words. Reading.
There may be very little fame or money in the effort, but most things worth anything start off as an idea and are churned through time and thought and energy into something bigger.
This is a good old fashioned blog about technology.
I have been using this medium for over twenty-five years and it may not be the hottest trend, but it is something more: it is an old and tested starting point for a new idea. Stay tuned.
